Prop wash/Black spots when mapping
I had a productive day on water learning AC. Pretty easy but I have to learn not to over compensate turns. I fish in marsh and bays and realized that most times I do not have to make umpteen passes and make a pretty map. Mostly just verifying and correcting depths in a lot of areas. There are a few channels and deep holes that will require a little more effort.
I notice that when I turn too fast or go through bubbles from the previous path that I get an erroneous depth and a black area. I would have though that just going back over it would correct it but it does not. How does the priority of repeated tracks work? Does it Overwrite it or Blend it? What is the easiest way to clean it up?
How do you insert pictures in posts?

Are you using AutoChart LIVE or AutoChart computer program?

Re: Prop wash/Black spots when mapping
I can go to Autochart Live/Show Raw Data, close menu, Zoom in on Data points, go back to Autochart menu and hit delete, close out menu and repeat for every single data point, but this will take 40 forevers.
I know I have a few bad data point because my transducer go kick up during mapping. So I really don't know what is a good or bad point. I would just as well delete the whole map and start over. Surely there is a method for this.

Re: Prop wash/Black spots when mapping
What are you wanting to try to do?
Delete the map and start over? (Yes, it is possible)
or
Process data and delete the bad data? (Not very user friendly with AutoChart Live)
I only use AutoChart Pro on the computer. AutoChart Live is VERY limited in that you cannot post process your data after collecting the data (at least not very efficiently).
#1 solution, fix your transducer and get it positioned properly so you maintain good depth readings all the time, at all speeds.
#2, if you've identified that making fast, sharp turns create erratic depth readings, quit making fast, sharp turns.
As far as having the ability to edit data after collection, your best bet is to save your sonar recordings and use AutoChart Pro.

Re: Prop wash/Black spots when mapping
Thanks Camohunter, yes to 1&2. All lessons learnt. I got better after 1st map! I've deleted bad segments using Onix. Just seeing if there was a method to delete a whole mapping session?
The created mapping is saved internally on Onix. Do you know how to delete just 1 of my mappings (the whole individual mapping) using the Onix, not PC? On my Onix I do not see a list or names of the mappings that were saved internally.
I have this thread going here also, if anybody wants to monitor it as well. Thanks
