1198 and Autochart, conflicting opinions ?

Post by AllenW on Sun Sep 27, 2015 10:43 pm

I run a 1198 at the console of my 2020 Larson FX and a 959 at the bow mount trolling motor and they are networked together.
I fish Lake Superior a lot and usually go from Duluth/Superior Wisc to Grand Marais and the further north I go the less depth information I have and what there is many times inaccurate.

What I was hoping to do was buy the Autochart and make a card with more and accurate info as I fish.

Here's where the problem lies, Deb at Humminbird says I can't do this with my finder, several reps or dealers have said I can.

Reading some previous posts here it appears I can.
I'm hoping Deb has just misunderstood, but want to be sure before I spend the money..????

To be clear, I want to record depths while I fish with my 1198, then run them though the computer and make a new card to use, this work on my 1198?

TIA

Al

A little more time on walleye central gave me the answer, I can record off my 1198 and make map/depth cards with the Zero line auto chart program, I just can't do the "Live" thing, which I don't want to do anyway.

I hope the tutorial that comes with the Autochart can be easily understood. Smile

Deb must have misunderstood, and thought you were talking about 'Live' mapping like the Onix/Ion units.

1198's can read a custom map from a ZeroLines SD card, which you create using AutoChart on the computer.

Good luck!

Thanks, that's what I figured on both counts.
