Autochart live mapping to autochart pro

Post by brettwendt on Wed Sep 07, 2016 11:02 pm

I mapped a small lake with my Helix 12 SI Chirp GPS, and want to import the data to autochart pro. Was I supposed to record anything special to make it work? I turned on autochart live and recorded the lake contours throughout the lake, with the built in 8 hours of memory. I then inserted the zeroline card to transfer the data. From there I tried to import to autochart pro, but nothing is showing up? I did have another SD card in a slot. So maybe the data is on that? I read somewhere that I was supposed to enable sonar recording. Is that required with autochart live??? Otherwise I have a beautiful map on my unit, and unable to upload it. I've been reading some guides, but I am thoroughly confused. Thanks for any help, Brett

I searched but can't seem to find camo hunters tutorial to get autochart live to autochart pro. I am able to accomplish the import but I can't get contour lines to show up.

If you want to use a record Autochart Live, you must settle parameters recording Autochart Live on "SD card" (Zéro Lines) and no on the "Memory sonar".
It isn't possible to export your record Autochart Live who is in memory sonar

HOW TO SAVE Map Data, Label it and Filing System.

Post by bru on Thu Sep 07, 2017 11:31 am

Here is an excellent answer from Camohunter [Do all that he  says] but I would add this to make it much clearer because How To Actually Do It is what most of us do not know: When finished for the day. before you shut off your Helix [I only know Helix but other is similar]. Push View until a Navigation screen shows, then Menu twice to get full Nav menu, select 1st option, Current Track ->Save ] Then select the 2nd item, Nav-> Waypoints, routes, tracks -> Options ->Select All and ... -> Export. This saves your data to Autochart Zero Lines Card and tells you it is saving. This is also in Humminbird Autochart Getting Started Guide p.6.- search for Guide online and PRINT it for reference AND Camohunter's info below.

Question 3 is your answer. At the end of a day of saving sonar records, I will export my humminbird tracks (.ht) and waypoints from my depthfinder to an SD card.

I then take that SD card, and copy those folders to my computer, BEFORE importing anything into AutoChart.

I have a few tips for organizing files.

On my computer, I have a folder titled "AutoChart Files" in My Documents. Inside the AutoChart Files folder, I create a folder for any new lake that I do surveying on. Inside that lake folder, I create a new folder for each day I collect survey data. Inside that dated folder, I create a MATRIX folder and RECORD folder. When I come in from collecting data, I copy the files from my SD card into those MATRIX and RECORD folders.

So, it would look something like this:
April 23rd:
My Documents/AutoChart Files/Lake Henry/2015-04-23/RECORD
My Documents/AutoChart Files/Lake Henry/2015-04-23/MATRIX
May 3rd:
My Documents/AutoChart Files/Lake Henry/2015-05-03/RECORD
My Documents/AutoChart Files/Lake Henry/2015-05-03/MATRIX

My Documents/AutoChart Files/Lake Thomas/2014-09-22/RECORD
My Documents/AutoChart Files/Lake Thomas/2014-09-22/MATRIX

By doing it this way, if my Chart File Index ever gets messed up, or I want to change the location of those files, I can reopen/link the whole batch of files for a particular lake, by going into Chart File Index -> Open Directory. There, I'd choose the lake folder (ex. Lake Henry), open it, and it would import all of the dated folders, tracks, and sonar recordings for that lake.

Another thing that I do, is create a text file in each dated folder, that includes the water levels for that day. That way I have a method for keeping track of changing water levels.

Once you've placed your sonar recordings and tracks in separate folders like I described above, you can delete them off your depthfinder unit if you want.
